Even though it is 60 degrees some days, it is finally winter time in Maryland! As the temperatures drop, there are so many fun activities to take advantage of in the winter months!
The first idea is quite classic… ice skating! Ice skating is such a fun way to hang out with a group of friends over break or any winter weekend. You could go to a local rink like Ice World or try outdoor skating at the Avenue in White Marsh. If you are feeling more adventurous, you might even want to try a weekend getaway to a ski lodge or Deep Creek to snowboard, ski, or go snow tubing! No matter where you go, even simple outdoor activities like snowball fights and building snowmen can be fun and bring out the inner child in all of us!
If you are not a fan of the cold, you can still have fun at an inside event, such as a sports game. You could even attend a basketball game or swim meet at NDP. Gather your friends and head to our very own Blazer spirit games or visit local schools and support their athletics! However, at the professional level, there are a few ice hockey teams not to far away, such as the Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, and Hershey Bears!
New Year’s Eve is another holiday meant for celebrating with the ones we love. You could stay up and countdown to midnight as you watch the ball drop, or you might prefer an early night in to start your year off. Either way, after all the Christmas gift-giving festivities have concluded, it might seem overwhelming to, “get everything together” before the new year and come up with a resolution. The new year brings many more activities like creating vision boards or even redecorating your house and organizing some of your new presents! No matter how you ring in the new year (who else is eating twelve grapes?), it is a chance to reset, relax, and reflect on the previous year!
This season, take time to connect with those around you who fill you with joy and love. No matter how you spend the winter season, it is important to create memories you will cherish with your family and friends and embrace the beauty of this unique season!
