As the leaves begin to change on Hampton Lane, it is time to slip on our Uggs, order some Starbucks, and light our apple cider candles! To get us in the spirit, I have asked what girls’ favorite fall drinks, movies, and activities are this fall season. So, grab your pumpkin spice latte and join us as we hear what our Blazers will be doing this autumn!
Starting off strong, chai lattes are this season’s most popular drink. Ayanna T. ’28, Finley C. ’28, Lila M. ’28, and Delaney B. ’26 all agreed on chai lattes and pumpkin chai lattes this September. Mr. Pomplon loves classic apple cider from Weber’s Cider Farm down in Parkville. Many other seniors also agreed that they love a warm mug of apple cider on a fall day! Reeve A. ’28 gave us the most specific Starbucks drink we have heard so far! She orders an Apple Crisp Shaken Espresso with oat milk. And finally, how could we talk about Starbucks without the beloved PSL?! We’ve seen them on TikTok, Pinterest, and many Facebook mom memes, but they really are a trademark fall beverage!
This fall’s movie lineup is also one to look forward to! New movies coming to theaters include “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, which released this past September, and “Wicked”, which will be released in November. Cece L. ’28, says her favorite movie is classic “Hocus Pocus”. Lindsey S. ’27, and Lila M. ’27, say their favorite fall show is “Gilmore Girls” (who else is team Logan??). In addition, Mr. Pomplon says his favorite is “Dead Poets Society” and, Ms. Peacock’s favorite movie is a fitting thriller about a mystery writer, (makes sense right?) called “Knives Out”. Olivia E. ’25, and Reagan A. ’26, both agreed that “Scream” is their go-to movie night choice. Besides the original “Scream” movies that came out thirty years ago, the newest one came out a little over a year ago starring one of the biggest female actresses of our time, Jenna Ortega. But as we know, scary movies are not for everyone and Liv M. ’26, and Kaitlyn M. ’25, said Disney’s “Halloween Town” is more their speed! Finally, if you want laughter and a heartfelt message, Campbell D. ’25 says her recommendation and favorite is “Spookley the Square Pumpkin”. Even though it is a cartoon, the message of self-acceptance, when Spookley feels like he does not fit in, is still something we can all relate to!
Besides ordering drinks and having cozy movie nights, what else are our NDP girls doing this autumn? Kate C. ’25, says she loves to drink tea and go on walks during fall. Carly E. ’28 says she loves going to a pumpkin patch and Sloan S. ’28 says she cannot wait to start carving pumpkins. Pumpkin patch photoshoots are a great group hangout idea and who doesn’t love taking pictures? My personal favorite answer came from Hailey B. ’28, who says her favorite activity is watching football. Whether it’s college, your brother’s team, Friday Night Lights games, or heading to M&T Bank Stadium, the sport of football brings fall vibes like no other. Julia T. ’28, says she likes going to corn mazes with her friends, and Emma D. ’26, and Madison U. ’27, say they prefer haunted houses and hayrides like Field of Screams or Legends of the Fog. Field of Screams opens for the season this fall on October 4th! If you prefer warmer and restful activities, Inaya M. ’27, says she enjoys baking fall treats and Maggie M. ’26 enjoys bonfires with her friends! Finally, to wrap up all our fall activities, Mr. Pomplon says he enjoys running in the crisp fall air!
Now that fall is finally here, it is time to snuggle up with a drink almost as sweet as the friends you are surrounded with! This season is all about memories and laughter so grab your flannels and hit the hayrides!
