Hi everyone! I hope you all are getting adjusted to your new schedules and getting excited for the year ahead. Another month means another Music Monthly playlist!
1. “Second Hand News” – Fleetwood Mac
From the 1977 album “Rumors”, Second Hand News is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs and one of the lesser-known songs.
2. “Fernando” – ABBA
“Fernando” gives off major “summer ending” energy.
“There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright”
3. “My Old School” – Steely Dan
Although the meaning behind this song isn’t very “Gilmore Girls back-to-school” vibes, I feel like the title gives it a place on this month’s playlist.
4. “Monday Morning” – Fleetwood Mac
I hate Monday mornings!
5. “Kodachrome” – Paul Simon
This song is greatly missing the other half of Simon & Garfunkel. Anyway, in this song Paul Simon sings about taking mental pictures of his life as it passes by. Cute, right?
“When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school
It’s a wonder I can think at all
And though my lack of education hasn’t hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome”
6. “Come Monday” -Jimmy Buffett
As a lifelong Jimmy Buffett fan, the news of his death deeply upset me, for he had an infectious zest for life and spread so much joy through his music. I added “Come Monday” because it’s my favorite song of his and it seemed appropriate given its mention of the past Labor Day weekend.
“Come Monday, it’ll be alright
Come Monday, I’ll be holdin’ you tight I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A haze And I just want you back by my side”–
Thanks for reading this month’s edition, and if you like these songs, you can listen to the rest of the playlist here!
