Ringing and Singing for Christmas
January 8, 2020
NDP’s Upper Level music department has sparked the Christmas spirit in our school and the wider community this Advent season.
On Friday, December 13, NDP’s band, orchestra, and choir groups travelled to Sacred Heart of Glyndon School to perform for their students. This trip was an amazing way to begin a week of wonderful performances, and the students of Sacred Heart greatly enjoyed hearing NDP’s sounds of the season.
Tuesday, December 17, was the Upper Level Christmas concert. The audience was able to hear vibrant compositions of classic songs from the orchestra, bright and festive tunes from the band, and beautiful harmonies from the chorus classes and chamber choir. Closing out the night was choir’s annual performance of “O Holy Night,” with Olivia Aubele ’20 as this year’s soloist.
Finally, on Friday, December 20, NDP’s music groups performed portions of Tuesday’s concert during school in honor of the last day before winter break. The students and faculty greatly enjoyed the show, which was filled with fun surprises all around. Later that day, during Christmas liturgy, the chamber choir and larger chorus led the worship music.
Overall, Upper Level Christmas music here at NDP was a huge success this year! Be sure to keep an ear out for our groups in the next year.

What do these things have in common:: Strong smell of pine, watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” watching “Elf,” NDP Christmas concert; wrapping presents? They all create the spirit of Christmas in even the smallest hearts (some grow 3x their size). Music Department is an irreplaceable herald of Christmas each year. Thanks for the article Caroline!
