Meet Ms. Pereira!
October 16, 2019
NDP is proud to welcome its newest biology teacher, Ms. Pereira, a graduate from Maryland’s very own Institute of Notre Dame. She loved the “Notre Dame way of learning” so much that she came back home to teach us at NDP. In this interview we learn a little more about one of our newest faculty members, Ms. Pereira!
-Where did you go to college?
I attended Boston University.
-What did you major in in college?
I majored in biology and minored marine science and English.
-Why did you choose that major?
I have always liked science. It was between biology and English, but the science community needed more women in the field.
-Why did you become a teacher?
When I was younger, I always wanted to help people. I was good in school and enjoyed it, so I figured that it was the best way for me to help people.
-What drove you to want to teach at NDP?
I wanted to come home to Maryland, and the school is close to heart because I went to IND and loved the all-girls aspect. I also love the “Notre Dame way of learning.”
-What are some of your hobbies outside of teaching?
I like to read, watch movies, and play music.
-What is your favorite part of NDP?
How kind and supportive the faculty, students, and staff are. I also love the great atmosphere to teach and learn in.
-What are you looking forward to the most?
Gym Meet! When my IND friends learned that I was going to teach at NDP, they were excited to learn what Gym Meet is all about.
I hope everyone enjoyed learning about one of our newest teachers, Ms. Pereira! We are so excited that she is joining us at NDP!
