NDP to NYC; Seniors’ Explorations in Photos
March 7, 2017

“BusyNess”
NYC is not all fun and games. For many, it is also where they work. Tall skyscrapers that house many business offices contrast with the playful blue sky.

“Grit”
Not all of NYC is as fancy and pristine as the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel or Broadway theaters. Here, city pigeons sit atop a gritty traffic light observing the events that happen at street level.

“Move”
If there are two things that don’t work well for taking a crisp photo, they are a moving bus and bright lights at night. On the way to see the Broadway show Wicked, this perfectly imperfect photo was snapped. Its abstract nature reflects both the chaos and the beauty of a life on the move.

“Iconic”
There is nothing more “NYC” than bustling streets full of pedestrians and yellow taxis lined with skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. NDP Seniors have many options on how to traverse the city streets whether it be by taxi, metro, or old fashioned walking.

“Skeleton”
Walking along the trails of Central Park, barren trees and skyscrapers reach towards the slightly cloudy sky of NYC in January. Central Park is one of the post often visited sights in the Big Apple and one that many NDP Seniors make sure to visit during their three-day vacation.

“Unlock”
Book-lovers, architecture-lovers, and anyone else will fall in love with the New York Public Library. With its rows and rows of ancient books, open study areas, intricate architecture, and beautiful paintings everywhere one looks, the New York Public Library has something for every NDP Senior to enjoy.

Beautiful photo essay of the senior experience. The photos capture the city through the eye of a visitor.; noting things a resident no longer notices….the beauty in the everyday. Nice job Marianna.
