BREAKING NEWS! It has just been announced that saddle shoes are being replaced by Heelys for NDP girls to roll around on. Here is the reasoning:
- More efficient. Rolling to class is so much quicker than walking! Ever been stuck behind slow walkers in the hall? Problem solved! Everyone can roll at the same pace and use less energy! All you have to do is kick back and roll!
- Research has proven they are bad for your feet! Numerous alumnae have reported years later serious bunion problems and incurable foot flat-ness. What a tragedy it is that all this was caused by wearing saddle shoes in their adolescence (the vital foot-forming stage for girls)!
- Supply is low. When back to school shopping comes around, all the NDP girls know it is time to go to Flynn & O’Hara. The supply of saddle shoes is few and far between, and pretty soon they will not even be sold in stores! We are getting ahead of this problem now!
- Too expensive. Because there are not many provider options, these few stores that do can charge as much as they want because they know NDP girls will be buying! Prices have been outrageously high!!! Many blazers ask themselves if it is even worth it. Well, fret no more!
- Not practical. The main parts of the saddle shoe are white and thus not practical. They get very dirty and not many people even own shoe polishes anymore! Often times students are chastised for their saddles being dirty or scuffed, but we have learned that it is hard to prevent! It ends up not being the most presentable look, and certainly not the most practical!
- Outdated! Many girls complain of getting called pilgrims, and the shoes definitely date them to another time. Keeping up with the current fashion styles, Heely’s are definitely the hip new way to go!
- Danger! Last but certainly not least, girls are slipping in the halls all the time! The slick soles of the shoe are a real hazard, as they have no traction. The cleaning crew at NDP does a phenomenal job keeping our floors squeaky clean, but that doesn’t pair well with these traction-less death traps! Girls are going down left and right, and its finally time to start putting the safety of our girls first!
Are you glad to see the saddle shoes go? What are your thoughts on years of tradition coming to an end this April 2025 on Hampton Lane? How does it feel to be making history… in Heelys?
