NDP has many traditions that students look forward to throughout the year. On September 20th, AA kicked off the school year with a fun night for all juniors and seniors.
AA, or the Athletic Association Dance, is the first dance of the school year and is for all upperclassmen. Each year, the senior class votes on a theme and this year the theme was “Toy Story” based off the beloved Pixar film. Each advisory dressed up as a different character from the beloved movie. Ranging from Woody to Lotso, students and seamstresses made dresses that are now filled with memories. Senior Ella C. commented on the process of making dresses saying, “While making the dresses was pretty stressful, I had fun making them with my friends and the ultimate end where everyone was all dressed up made for a really rewarding night”. Every dress looked awesome and made the night extra special for all the seniors.
The dresses were not the only fun part of the night. This year, there were added bonuses to the dance. There were chips and blue-and-purple candies to celebrate the Class of ‘25. During the duration of the dance, there was also a mini scavenger hunt. All throughout the dining room and foyer, there were tiny military men, replicants of the characters from “Toy Story”. If a student found one and gave it to one of the chaperones, they were given a prize. Maisie D. ‘25 was lucky enough to find one and said, “I got there late to the dance and was not expecting to find one of the army pieces. However, while I was talking to Mr. L, I magically found one and gave it to one of the chaperones. This was a really fun thing to add to the dance and I know a lot of people were super excited to take part in it”. This was a great addition to AA! So many people found the miniature men and were given the prize.
The seniors were not the only ones who had fun. Lucy M. from the Class of ‘26 said, “It was so much fun dancing with my friends! It was so nice to hang out with everyone. Thank you to everyone from AA who worked so hard to make it happen!”. While the seniors celebrated their final dance at NDP, the juniors had fun dancing the night away with their classmates.
As Caitlyn P. ‘25 said, “For the seniors, it was a really fun way to close out our dances at NDP. Between the dresses, the scavenger hunt, and the dancing, I had a lot of fun and I know that my classmates did as well. It was a night filled with fun memories and I hope everyone had a good time”. The night was full of fun memories that everyone will remember forever. Next up is the CCAP dance for freshman and sophomores. Thank you to everyone who make the AA and CCAP dances possible! I hope every freshman and sophomore has fun at CCAP and I hope everyone had the best time at AA!
