February this year started off strong with a beloved NDP tradition, Pasta for the Philippines. On February 1st, all students participated in contributing ingredients to make the food, eating some delicious pasta, and buying tickets to ultimately give to a great cause. The Christian Community Awareness Program (CCAP) and the Asian Student Assosciation (ASA) made the entire event more extravagent with the addition of Fillipino Spaghetti, which was a major hit for all students. Even Mr. Goethal, the creator of this NDP tradition, made a special visit to see the work that was made to serve great food. Overall, the 31st anniversary of Pasta for the Philippines was a great success.
To put the event in the words of Mr. Pomplon, the director of service here at NDP, “Pasta for the Philippines was a great success. Our goals were met in terms of raising money, and the spirit was alive with Mr. Goethal’s visit. The ASA and the faculty that helped make the day possible were incredibly helpful”. Fortunately, the major acomplishments of this year’s Pasta for the Philippines event will help lots of children in the Philippines and carry on the spirit of service here at NDP.
CCAP President, Jill Noss, believes that the entire day is so incredibly special for not only the NDP community, but the communities we impact in the Philippines. She says, “Pasta for the Philippines is such an amazing event because it allows everyone to enjoy something which makes change in other communities. I think everyone felt the excited energy troughout the dining hall, and I love being able to share such a delicious meal with my friends!”
It’s safe to say that Pasta for the Philippines was a hit. But, it wouldn’t be possible withought the help of the students. Everyone made the day so special, and wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for everyone’s support. Both CCAP, the ASA, faculty, staff, and students certainly made the 31st Pasta for the Philippines one to remember.
