Brie on baguette slices, quiche and homemade macrons…it sounds as if I’m reading from the menu of Baltimore’s own French bistro, Petit Louis, but in reality, it is only a short list of French dishes served during the French club sponsored, French week. French club is one of the many NDP organizations dedicated to sharing rich culture and tradition of nations or groups across the world. French week, which lasted from the fifth to the tenth of November worldwide, was certainly a reason for celebration with French snacks for all to enjoy during E1 and E2 on Monday, French lunch featuring an accordion player for French students and French club members on Tuesday, French crafts and games on Wednesday and Thursday, and as a great culmination to it all, a screening of fan-favorite, Ratatouille, on Friday.
Shortly following French week, the NDP “Taste of the World” festival began, with a host of clubs promoting cultural dishes. French club students prepared several treats which had been previously featured, yet the table was nearly barren succeeding E1 and E2.
A common misconception regarding French club is that only students in French may join; this could not be further from the truth as any student open to learning about the culture and possibly a little French along the way, is welcome to join! Club president, Sadie Kelly in partnership with the French department encourages all with a genuine interest in French customs to take part! Recently, French club has garnered much recognition, with more than 125 students participating this school year! Could you be the next French club member… or as they say in France, Pourriez-vous ĂȘtre la prochaine?
