A Resolve of 2018

Danielle Escobal, Staff Writer

“Time flies when you’re having fun!” Certainly a true statement for my 2017. Participating in my first Gym Meet, meeting so many new people, and finishing the daunting first year of high school are just mere highlights of this past year. The year swooped by in a blink of an eye and before I knew it, I was counting down the seconds to 2018.

I find New Year Resolutions very interesting. Shouldn’t we be constantly challenging ourselves and creating new goals throughout the entire year? However, I cannot deny the feeling of a clean slate and fresh start that encases my senses as the clock counts down while the ball drops in New York City. A sense of motivation is definitely felt across the world on the first of January.

I have always been one to enjoy making list and organizing my thoughts so I can visibly see them. Here is my queue…

  1. Drink more water.
  2. SLEEP IS IMPORTANT – take advantage of your tiny homework nights and tuck in early
  3. Choose to be happy because happiness is a choice!
  4. Learn (or at least attempt) the basics of another language.
  5. Do one challenging thing a day.

You may have a longer or shorter list than I do. Resolutions cannot merely be words on paper but should be actions that cultivate to better habits. This is my resolve for 2018.
