Fall Forte

Mary Lorenz, Staff Writer

The NDP auditorium was ringing with melodious sounds earlier this October as the Fall Concert was underway. Even with limited time to prepare pieces, each musical group was ready to play or sing their hearts out. The Concert Choir opened the evening with “Rise Up,” “My Love,” and “Grace.” Chorus also performed “The Seal Lullaby” and “Walk in Jerusalem.” Next, the string orchestra performed a medley of the Broadway classic Les Miserables, as well as “Arlington Sketches” and “Overture to Nabucco.” They closed their portion with Dvorak’s “New World Symphony,” with soloists Andrea Gibeck and Sophia Zylstra. The chamber choir serenaded the audience with “Mata Del Anima Sola,” “Sure In This Shining Night,” and “Ave Maria.” Soloists Lily O’Mara, Grace Christian, Maddie Saldana, and Allie Charney brought an extra gift to the chorus performances. Their harmonious voices filled the room with grace. Finally, our concert band took the stage with “Equinox” and a booming Star Wars medley. After “Normandy Beach Concert March,” they closed with a classic 80s medley, complete with Footloose. For more NDP music, the Upper Level Christmas Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 15.
