Last Friday, March 14, NDP continued its annual fundraiser for El Salvador, Coffee House. NDP students, family, and friends came into the newly decorated Dining Room to enjoy their classmates’ music, which ranged from mash-ups of popular songs to classical violin pieces. Not only did students get to listen to their talented NDP sisters, but there was also a huge assortment of teas, coffees, and desserts, a henna station, tie-dying, and card making for children in El Salvador. All proceeds from the night went towards helping poor El Salvadorians, and there were plenty of ways to help at Coffee House. First of all, all admission fees were donated, but there were also opportunities to tie-dye bandanas for El Salvadorians and make cards for them. The card-making station even had translations of nice little phrases to include in the cards, such as “Hola,” and “Tiene una buena dia.” There was a raffle at the end of the night, as well, for gift cards to Smoothie King and Chipotle, two definite NDP favorites. The Little Bow Peeps seniors even sent one bow to a little girl in El Salvador for each one purchased by an NDP girl! The night was a blast, and participants got to learn fun facts such as “A strawberry is not a berry, but a banana is,” and “Hippos can open their mouths 180 degrees!” Overall, Coffee House was a fun night for NDP students and a great way to raise money for El Salvador. I can’t wait for next year!
