Dodge for Love was on Saturday, February 1st, and it was a huge success. Tons of NDP girls and boys from Calvert Hall, Loyola, and countless other schools piled into the New Gym at 7:00 to play dodge ball in Yeardley Love’s memory, with clever team names like “The Dodgers” and “The Vegetaballs.” Everybody had a blast and played for close to three hours until a team of juniors named “The Fresh Prince of Ball Air” finally won. The night was full of excitement and friendly competition, but that wasn’t all that it was about. The One Love Foundation, started in 2010 by Yeardley’s sister and mother, is dedicated to ending relationship violence through education. Notre Dame has worked hard to help this foundation since its inception. Dodge for Love has always been a great fundraiser for the One Love Foundation. It certainly helped that donations were made and One Love t-shirts were sold, and this year’s game was extremely successful. “I really liked being able to hang out with my friends while also helping out the One Love Foundation,” said freshman and Dodge for Love participant, Callie Stewart. “It was a blast to play dodge ball, and it was so cool to see Notre Dame Prep and lots of boys’ schools teaming up to help end relationship violence. I love that even something as fun as dodge ball can help make a difference in the world,” added her teammate, Sophia Zylstra. Overall, Dodge for Love at NDP was a great occasion, and the school can hardly wait for next year.
