It’s that time of year again. There are frequent commercials for gyms offering their best deals for the new year. The front displays in bookstores are filled with books about how to eat healthy, how to organize better, or books about the best exercise methods. The reason for all of this? New Year’s resolutions.
Everybody has made one at least some time in her life; a kind of self-promise or plan to do something in the new year. Some popular resolutions are to travel more, spend more time with family, or to be healthier.
Do you make New Year’s resolutions? If you do, do you usually keep them?
A small survey of students showed that 50% of the girls make resolutions, while 50% do not. As for keeping the resolutions, 50% of the girls said that they do not, while the rest of the results were that they “sometimes” or “usually” keep their resolutions.
Finally, when the girls were asked how long it takes to give up the resolutions if they are given up, 60% said it takes them a month to give up their resolutions. “One day” and “I give up right after I make it” were tied at 20%.
For those of you who made resolutions and haven’t given up yet – good luck! For those of you who have already given up – there’s always next year. Happy New Year!
