Penny Queen is considered a long standing tradition at NDP.  For years, girls have chosen a student from each grade to lead their class in raising the most money.  Decked out in colorful costumes, the girls sell baked goods, have contests, have raffles, and participate in dares to raise money.  The money raised is sent to El Salvador to help students.  Through the years the NDP community has raised well over their goal for El Salvador.  This enables us to use the extra funds for other important programs such as Camp Umoja.  Through fun, games, laughter, and generous donations, a large amount of money is raised every year.  The money that is raised from Penny Queen makes a difference in many people’s lives.
