The week before Thanksgiving is a busy one at NDP, what with Stone Soup and Thanksgiving Liturgy and schoolwork. (This year’s liturgy, with music from the Calvert Hall Liturgy Band, was especially exciting.) By the time Stone Soup came on Friday, students were more than happy for a week long break. A tradition started by Sister Helen Marie Duffy, Thanksgiving break is a chance for students to catch up on some rest as well as celebrate the holidays.
What better way to celebrate than with traditions? Traditions have a way of bringing friends and families together. Whether it’s rooting on your favorite team at the Turkey Bowl, or sharing a meal with family, everyone has her own special way to celebrate Thanksgiving. These traditions help us see the main focus of Thanksgiving (and no, it is not the food). It’s about looking around you and being grateful for your life and the people in it. So this Thanksgiving holiday, take a minute to give thanks for those in your life. And don’t forget to share the stuffing.
