On November 2, 2012, the junior class officially became upper class women. This special day was filled with excitement and smiles as the Class of 2014 celebrated Ring Day. The colors of pink and blue could be seen everywhere as the juniors anxiously waited to receive their rings.
In the morning, family and friends joined that junior class at Ring Liturgy. The ceremony included a heartfelt speech by Ms. Gutierrez, who noted that the day was the 10th year anniversary of her Ring Day. Ms. Gutierrez also reflected on her special nickname name for the Class of 2014, which is “The Golden Girls.”
The Ring ceremony, which followed the liturgy, was the moment that juniors finally receive their rings from Sister Patricia. During the ceremony, Mrs. O’Hara, Sister Patricia, and Meghan Cain, all gave amazing speeches to the junior class. Mrs. O’Hara shared many memories of Junior Retreat including the huge number of stink bugs! Meghan Cain reflected on the meaning of the rings and the sisterhood shared by the junior class. The ceremony ended with the juniors singing their song, which was a re-write of “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons.
After the ceremony, the foyer was packed full of family and friends who wanted to turn the juniors’ rings for good luck. After all of the ring turning and pictures, the juniors left to get ready for their dance that evening.
The Junior Ring Dance was a fun night. I think everyone would agree that the juniors looked beautiful in their dresses. The dance’s decorations included lights, a display case full of pictures, and tables decorated with candles. There was even a photo booth to take pictures in! The night ended with the song, “On the Ride,” which the juniors chose as their Ring theme.
The entire NDP community made the day so special for the juniors. Freshmen little sisters wrote notes attached to Ring Pops for juniors, the sophomores wrote letters to juniors, and the seniors decorated the juniors’ lockers. The Junior Homeroom teachers worked hard to make the day incredible too. Also, the Ring committees should be so proud of all their hard work to make the entire day a memory that will never be forgotten.
Congratulations to the Junior Class!
