As the calendar flips to March and the NFL season is beyond us, there is still a feeling of competition in the air—some may call it… madness. This year, March Madness Selection Sunday begins on March 16th at 6 pm. 68 teams are selected, but only one will make it through to San Antonio this April for a chance to become the 2025 NCAA Champion.
However, before the NCAA kicks off, we take a moment to recognize the stars right here at NDP. This year, for the first time since the 2011 season, the Blazers made it to the IAAM Varsity Championship. Despite a tough loss, the girls had a fantastic season, going 9-3 in league play. Freshman Stacey G. made the IAAM All-Tournament Team and Ella M. ’26 and Ella M. ’26 made the IAAM All-Conference Team! Congratulations to all of NDP’s basketball players on a great season!
As for the NCAA, the men’s tournament is led by heavily favored Duke Blue Devils with Michigan State projected to be No. 2. However, before the madness begins, the Big Ten Tournament and the ACC Tournament take place next week and weekend, staring UNC, Clemson, Maryland, and other powerful teams. In women’s basketball news, Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies will begin the journey for a national championship in Bueckers’ last college season as she prepares to possibly be the No. 1 draft pick in the WNBA.
Even if basketball is not the highlight of your March, consider filling out a bracket and watching some games because you never know what unforgettable moments might happen in the race for a national championship this spring!
