The Intramural Games
November 7, 2015
To stay active, many girls participate in sports teams, or some frequent the gym after school. But for others, the intramural games that are held are the most fun and exciting way to stay active throughout the school year.
Groups of friends gather together every other morning to compete in a Wand Woman Tournament. Wand Woman is a form of dodge ball, but there is a player who has the ability to tag players back in with her wand. The object of the game is to get the entire other team out. The winners of the entire tournament wins the Intramural Banner for their class, which is a hefty prize to win.
I asked a few participants what they liked about the intramural games. Sarah Gardner, a senior, said, “I love having a chance to stay active all year! I play Indoor Soccer which is a winter sport, so Wand Woman gave me a chance to participate in physical activities during the fall. Wand Woman also gave me chance to interact with my friends outside of school.”
Most of this year’s tournament is over, and the champions should be determined in the coming weeks. But don’t worry if you missed Wand Woman. Soon, basketball intramurals will start, and the games will begin again!!!
