In the 2012- 2013 season under coach John Harbaugh, Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers.The city of Baltimore was ecstatic when the Ravens won, but will it happen again in the near future? Since the Ravens organization was started, they have won two super bowls in 12 years, with Ray Lewis playing in both games. In Super Bowl history, there have been five consecutive victories out of the 47 total Super Bowls. Thirteen teams have managed to return to the Super Bowl, even if they lost the past year. Based on the past, the chances seem pretty good for the Ravens.
The Ravens went into their bye week with three wins and four losses and are currently in second place in their division. They are 2.5 games behind the Cincinnati Bengals. In the remaining schedule the Ravens have four divisional games, three conference games, and two out of conference games.
Are the Ravens lacking the confidence and leadership to succeed though? Ray Lewis retired last season and was the leader in Baltimore for 17 years.
The Ravens also lost Ed Reed, one of their defensive stars, and Anquan Boldin, their star wide receiver. Joe Flacco has stepped up to the plate to be the leader, but is he doing an effective job?
The Ravens have nine games left. Will they make it to the playoffs this year, or maybe even the Super Bowl? We will find out in December when the season comes to an end. At the moment, they seem to have lost their way.
