The Varsity Softball team here at NDP crushed the competition yesterday, May 10 at Patterson Park. They played IND for the second time this year. IND was #1 in the Blazers’ division and had already beaten the Blazers a month before. The game was a nail-biter full of exciting twists. NDP never gave up, even in their International Tie Breaker. During the whole game, the score fluctuated resulting in 6-6 after 7 full innings. Senior Casey O’Neill pitched the whole game and struck seven IND girls out. Freshman Nellie Hines hit a grand slam to tie the game at 4-4. After seven hard-fought innings, IND and NDP went into the eighth inning, the International Tie Breaker. The Blazers scored three runs and IND came out empty. This semi-final game was certainly the most exciting of the year, and the team cannot wait to face Catholic High yet again in the Championships on Tuesday. The game will be at Bachman Sports Complex at 6 p.m. in Glen Burnie. This is their third consecutive year heading to the Championships and their second in a row against Catholic High. The team really hopes to have some fans to cheer them on as they strive to take the Champion bowl home for the 2012 season!
