My parents frequently eat at Bowman’s Restaurant and Pub, but when I went with them, I was a little skeptical about the small restaurant that I passed every day on my way to school. I was proven wrong, to my great delight.
The atmosphere is welcoming and homey as you enter Bowman’s in Carney, Maryland. The bar area offers the perfect place for a casual hangout, while more formal seating is just around the corner. The main restaurant provides the feeling of a “nice” place, yet still remains informal enough that parents can feel at ease bringing younger children along.
The waiting staff was excellent. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was very attentive to us throughout our dinner. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and food, which was very helpful since I had never eaten at Bowman’s before.
Though it took a while for the food to be served, it was well worth the wait. I had ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I was expecting your average salad, but as I started to eat, I couldn’t stop. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the chicken was grilled to perfection. There also was the perfect amount of dressing: not too much, but enough to taste it. The portion was also huge. I managed to finish my food, even when I had passed being full a long way back. I thought I couldn’t possibly eat any more. And then dessert came: local homemade ice cream topped with drizzled chocolate sauce. Needless to say, I ate the whole bowl.
Bowman’s Restaurant and Pub is an inexpensive place to go for a nice dinner out with the family. I would definitely go back again.
