Looking for an animated movie with mixed representation, an exciting and well-written plot, and huggable robots? Search no farther than Big Hero 6.

Based off a popular comic series, this movie, set in the not-so-far future in the city of San Fransokyo, is the story of Hiro Hamada, young genius and inventor. His older brother and guardian, Tadashi Hamada, is lost in a (possibly) accidental fire at his “nerd school” college while in an attempt to save a professor. Hiro, in dealing with this personal loss, finishes the helpful and lovable robot his brother had been working on, known as Baymax.

In a world where cities are big and personalities are bigger, this cast of character stands out as creative, quirky, and strong willed. Although Hiro is the true protagonist of the movie, Tadashi’s college friends, whom Hiro meets only through tragedy, prove to be more than just supporting characters. The two major female roles, GoGo and Honey Lemon, are extraordinarily distinct and well-written, as the audience sees both full-developed personality and develops a specific fondness of throughout the movie. Other characters, such as Wasabi and Fred, add both a comedic element and more original characters. Baymax (who I couldn’t help but take a picture with), too, is not to be overlooked. Never have I ever wanted science to create a robot who looks more like a marshmallow than a computer!

Something is also to be said about the score for the film, which features Fall Out Boy’s newest single, Immortals, as the main track. In accordance with the movie’s theme of cultural mixture, Immortals captures San Fransokyo’s diversity by blending both a prominent American punk band and common musical patterns seen in modern Japanese pop. With both creative, metaphorical lyrics and cool beat, this Fall Out Boy song encompasses both the mood and meaning behind the movie.

So whether you are looking for exciting plots, well-drawn characters, or a wicked soundtrack, Big Hero 6 has it all.
