We asked teachers to advise both middle school and high school students by offering a few words of advice based on their own experiences:
Being your true self is the only way to establish meaningful and lasting relationships. –Mrs. Alderman
Perception is reality. If you perceive something to be a certain way (and that includes your attitude about it), then it is. –Mrs. Ruhl
Life can take a person in an unexpected direction. (I did not expect to become a math teacher. Art and literature were my favorite subjects in high school. I love mathematics now.) —Mrs. Sann
It is better to be an hour early than five minutes late. —Mr. Peri
The best lesson I learned was to do my work on time!—Mrs. Myers
The lesson I think freshman learn in high school is that you must take responsibility for your actions. This means it is up to you to make sure you understand the work and what is being asked of you. If you are having trouble, you must seek out help. You have to take the initiative. —Mrs. Gottschalk
Enjoy each day of high school; it all goes by too quickly. —Mrs. Pennington
The best lesson I ever learned was to be myself, even if I was different from everyone else. —Ms. Strausbaugh
