On Monday, January 20th, 2025, Donald John Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States of America. The president had a busy first day and it was marked by many key moments.
However, before diving into Inauguration Day, take a quick look at who President Trump is. Born in New York, on June 14, 1946, Trump’s father was a real-estate developer, and his mother was a British American socialite. As a child, Donald Trump grew up in a Presbyterian family and received a great education. Trump earned his fortune by becoming a successful real estate developer and businessman. His name is plastered across hotels, casinos, golf courses, and more. Today, he is the 45th and 47th President of the United States and the second president to serve two nonconsecutive terms.
Now, back to Inauguration Day. This year, the ceremonies were organized by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota. The schedule was normal compared to previous years, despite the freezing temperatures. After a service at St. John’s Church in Washington D.C., there was a procession to the Capitol, which was followed by Vice President Vance’s swearing-in ceremony. President Trump was then sworn in before delivering his inaugural address. Former President Biden and former Vice President Harris were then thanked for their four years of service. Afterwards, President Trump sat down at his desk, where he signed numerous executive orders. Lunch was then served before the presidential parade. Inauguration Day finished up with many Inaugural Balls meant to commemorate the beginning of a new presidency.
Throughout the ceremony, several famous musicians performed on this historic occasion. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Choir, the United States Marine Band, and Liberty University’s Praise Choir graced those present with performances. Other performers, like Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, and Gavin DeGraw, made an appearance on the stage. The Village People even appeared and played “Y.M.C.A”, a song that President Trump has publicly danced to numerous times. However, the most notable performances were performed by Christopher Macchio and Carrie Underwood. Christopher Macchio is an opera singer and gave a rendition of both “O America!” and the United States national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”. Carrie Underwood sang “American the Beautiful” acapella after a mishap with the instrumental music.
The famous musicians were not the only ones who managed to make a mark on this day. President Trump started his second term with a bang. During his Inaugural Address, Trump said many things. He promised to put America first before saying that the United States “will be the envy of every nation”. He went over various changes, saying that it is now the United States policy that there are only two genders: male and female. He made his mark on history and signed about 20 executive orders, a record for any president within the last five administrations. These orders have ranged from pardoning people who were involved in the January 6th protests to taking steps to handle the immigration crisis.
No matter whether you voted for Trump or Harris, we all desire to live in a strong and thriving America. So, we can all agree to congratulate both candidates on their campaigns and wish President Trump good luck in his second term.
