This Tuesday, March 14th was a very special day at NDP, Pi Day! Pi Day is the annual celebration of the mathematical constant, pi. There is lots of excitement around Pi Day at NDP for a couple of reasons.
Students are asked to bring in actual pie that is sliced and shared at lunch. There was a huge selection of pies this year, from apple to pecan to chocolate! The class that brings in the most pie will get points towards the possibility of the Pi Banner.
However, It isn’t only the pies that students get excited about, but the pi too! On this special day, students line up to recite as many digits of pi as they can remember. The class that collectively recites the most digits wins the Pi Day banner. Although there were several impressive competitors this year, no one could seem to beat senior Sophia Reider, who recited 500 digits of pi! This, along with the fact that the seniors participated the most, led them to win the banner. You go Sophia! The students of NDP now excitedly await next year’s Pi Day, only about 350 days away!
