With summertime quickly approaching, there is a frantic rush for students to find a summer job. Being teenagers, we all need the money, and a summer job seems absolutely necessary. Besides, we know we’ll all be bored by the first two days of summer if we don’t have anything to keep us occupied. So after finding the job that seems right for you, whether it is lifeguarding, Rita’s, or retail, there comes the most important part. The job interview.
There are two ways to approach the job interview process. You can be deathly terrified of it, or you can come into it with a positive attitude and give it your best process. Either way, it most likely will not be as bad as you expect it to be. If you want some tips for success though, you’re reading the right article. Here are a few of the most important aspects of job interviews:
- Take time to look for a place you want to work, and when you do find one, be sure to check it out. See if you have any connections with people where you want to work, this can help improve your prospects for getting the job!
- Take a little time to practice your interview. You don’t want to be nervous and frazzled, and by practicing you can get rid of these extra nerves and be able to have more confidence during the actual interview.
- Be polite and organized. Most likely there will be paper work required before your interview, and you will probably have to be in contact with the manager or other company workers before your actual interview. Be very polite and appear responsible by sending in all your needed paper work in a timely fashion. Make them want you! And, of course, when you meet the interviewer, be sure to shake their hand.
- Dress nicely for the interview. Short skirts and low cut tops are not the best idea for a job interview. You want to appear professional and mature, and by dressing in conservative clothes, you will help to convey this message with the interviewer.
- Express your interest. Make it clear that you really want this job, and stress why you will be the best one for the position. You want the interviewers to immediately want you!
- Be sure to say thank you! The interviewer is giving you their time and attention, and it is important to thank them for doing that. Saying thank you also shows that you have good manners, and makes you more appealing for the job.
Follow these tips and you’re on the road to success, good luck!
