This year marks our school’s 150th anniversary. Founded in 1873 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, NDP has been educating girls to transform the world for more than a century. However, their mission didn’t begin on Hampton Lane. The first location was actually on North Charles Street in Baltimore, where the entirety of the NDP community was embracing the mission of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and the practice of justice, much like we do today.
On Monday, August 28, the Upper Level gathered on Love Field to arrange ourselves into the formation of a “150.” A drone was launched in order to video footage of the formation, which will be later used on NDP’s social media to celebrate this milestone in NDP’s history. Additionally, the Class of 2024 was gifted brand-new golden name pins for their final year. The celebrations and special events to honor our school and its history will continue throughout the remainder of the year, beginning with a special liturgy on Friday, September 22, 2023.
It’s time to make the best of our golden year. As a senior, I am going to use this opportunity to make the most out of my seventh and final year at NDP, as I know will most of the Class of 2024. Being part of the NDP community for the past seven years is an experience I’ll never forget. It has had its ups and downs, but overall I’ve watched the school progress and transform for the better, while simultaneously staying true to its roots and guiding principles. I look forward to seeing more of NDP students’ accomplishments and successes in the future.
