Welcome to a special edition of Music Monthly! This April, I’m highlighting Lady Gaga’s new album “MAYHEM” that was released on March 7, 2025. Here’s my top 5!
-
“Abracadabra”
“Like a poem said by a lady in red
You hear the last few words of your life
With a haunting dance, now you’re both in a trance
It’s time to cast your spell on the night”
This song perfectly encapsulates the depths of emotion and drama found between Romantic and gothic literature. There is a reason why Lady Gaga released this song as a single a month before the rest of “MAYHEM”.
-
“Garden of Eden”
“I’ve been feelin’ this familiar feeling
Like I’ve known you my whole life
Take you to the Garden of Eden
Poisoned apple, take a bite”
All I can think about when listening to this song is the sort of nostalgia I feel when studying different periods of history. Sometimes, I do feel like I have known the late 19th-century my whole life.
-
“The Beast”
“I know you’re hungry, ready to bite
I wanna watch you turn tonight”
I love how even though the tempo slows down, the intrigue is still as palpable as ever.
-
“Shadow of a Man”
“‘Cuz I won’t be used for my love and left out to cry
I don’t wanna fade into the darkness tonight”
It’s reminiscent of some of her earlier albums, such as “The Fame Monster“.
-
“Die With A Smile”
“I’d wanna hold you just for a while
And die with a smile
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you”
Whoever decided to pair Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga up deserves a raise. Truly a match made in Heaven.
Thanks for reading this month’s issue of “Music Monthly” and I hope you have enjoyed these top picks from Lady Gaga’s “MAYHEM”.
