In the beginning of a New Year, it is almost a tradition for everyone to make some sort of a New Year’s Resolution. Whether it is being more organized, making new friends, trying something new, becoming healthier, getting along with siblings, or getting good grades, we all decide a goal for us to try to achieve in the New Year. A saying we all follow when in hits 12 o’clock is “New Year, new you.” I am here to help you achieve your new year’s resolution and to stick with it.
If your resolution is getting organized, here are some tips for you! Getting organized may be hard for you, especially in a tiny room, but there are a few tips and tricks to de-clutter your room! Go through what is essential in your room and what isn’t. If it is something you love but is just cluttering your room, store it in a container in your closet, or set aside somewhere that will not clutter your room. Keep things organized by grabbing small decorative containers and sectioning off items in the containers. For example, put nail polishes in the pink container, hair products in a basket, and CDs on a section of your book shelf.
If your resolution is making new friends, join a new club or try something new. It’s easy to make friends when they have the same interest as you. Be yourself and you can definitely achieve this goal
Becoming healthier is definitely a popular favorite for the start of the New Year. Some healthy tips to remind yourself is to be active for at least one hour of your day. Put that TV remote down and walk your dog, go on a run, play a game of soccer with friends, take a yoga class, or play Just Dance on the Wii. There are so many fun options to staying active and being healthy. Corresponding with an active lifestyle is eating right. I am not saying you aren’t allowed to splurge once in a while but maybe swap a snack you have once a day for something healthy. Instead of a bag of potato chips, grab an apple and peanut butter or pita chips and hummus. That little swap can make you more energized too!
Getting along with siblings can be a challenge although it’s easy to get along with them if you are nice and decide to be the bigger person. If your younger brother is agitating you and getting on your last nerves, just nicely tell him to stop or remove yourself to your room. I know this is definitely easier said than done but remember to think before you say or do, and you can be enjoying time with your siblings without the arguing!
Lastly, for any student, getting good grades is likely an occurring resolution we all want to achieve. Some easy steps to help you get the grades you want are simple if you put it in your everyday routine. Have you ever felt the stress of studying for a test the next day or have procrastinated on a project? I think it’s easy to say we all have. It is proven that with less stress, we can all do better in school. What’s worse than cramming a project in the night before it is due or cramming information before a test. That’s why it’s important to study 15 minutes a night of the notes you took in class. This small tip really will help you succeed in getting a better grade. You won’t feel as stressed because you will be able to recall a fair amount of information from just reviewing your notes every night and won’t feel that stress the night before a test. A tip to help you ace that test is to use a study tool that helps you. Making a song, flashcards, Prezi, notes, etc, can help you ace that test because these are things you don’t mind doing and will help you remember the information.
The New Year is an encouragement for all of us to succeed in our resolutions and to be better people. I know it is hard to keep up with your goal, but with these few tips, you can succeed. Good luck and Happy New Year! You can do it!
